Waskaduwa is a quiet, palm-fringed stretch of golden sand on Sri Lanka's west coast, about 24 km south of Colombo on the Galle Road. The shoreline here belongs to the same long, continuous beach that runs south from Waskaduwa through Kalutara towards Payagala, and it stays noticeably more residential and less developed than the resort strips further south. Most of the frontage is taken up by a scattering of beachside hotels and guesthouses, including Citrus Waskaduwa and Club Waskaduwa Beach Resort & Spa, with long open stretches of sand in between. The water is generally calm and the atmosphere low-key - mostly local families at weekends and hotel guests during the week.
