Habaraduwa Beach
About Habaraduwa
Habaraduwa is a quiet, palm-fringed stretch of coast about 14 km south of Galle, between Unawatuna and Koggala. The beach is a 2 km curve of golden sand, wide and private-feeling - KK Beach is the only boutique hotel directly on it - and the water is calm and gently shelving for much of the year. The area's defining attraction is the Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery, a non-profit centre run since 1986 that collects eggs, hatches and rears baby turtles and cares for disabled adults before releasing them; it has released well over 500,000 hatchlings, and its pools hold all five of Sri Lanka's turtle species. It sits beside the Galle-Matara main road and is open daily, roughly 7:30-18:00. With shops and restaurants along the road, it is an easy, family-friendly stop, often paired with nearby Koggala and its lake.

Reviews
Habaraduwa is a calm family stop where the beach plays second fiddle to the famous turtle hatchery - a genuinely worthwhile conservation visit for children and adults alike. It is not a destination for nightlife or crowds; the reward is a wide, quiet beach and easy access to Koggala's lake. Visit the hatchery in the morning, then spend the afternoon on the sand.
