About Induruwa

Induruwa is a low-key beach settlement on the A2 coastal road between Bentota and Kosgoda, with a broad stretch of sand fronting calm, shallow water. There is no big resort strip here; instead, guesthouses and small villas sit behind the beach, and most visitors are Sri Lankan weekenders and travellers on a quieter leg of the southwest coast. The Induruwa Sea Turtle Conservation Project and Sea Turtle Information Center runs a hatchery by the shore where visitors can see turtle tanks and learn about conservation. Swimming conditions are calm in the dry season, and the pace is slow, with beach walks, long sunsets and a short tuk-tuk ride to Bentota's restaurants or Kosgoda's hatchery covering most days.

Induruwa suits travellers who want a calm, unpolished beach base between the busier spots - quieter than Bentota and with fewer facilities. Best in the Nov-Apr dry season; the local turtle centre is the standout attraction.
