Kahawa Beach
About Kahawa
Kahawa is a tiny coastal hamlet on the A2 road between Ahungalla and Balapitiya, with a short stretch of quiet beach and almost nothing in the way of tourist infrastructure. Fishermen work the shore, village houses sit behind the sand, and the occasional villa or guesthouse, some marketed from nearby Akurala, offers a stay. There are no big hotels, no water-sports stalls and no crowds: the beach is used by locals and a handful of travellers passing through. Its appeal is simplicity, with long walks, calm dry-season water and genuine village life, and the Madu Ganga safari and the turtle hatcheries are a short ride away when you need more to do.

Reviews
Kahawa is for travellers who want an unpolished, quiet beach stop with nothing to do - it is genuinely low-key and light on facilities. Best in Nov-Apr; the Madu Ganga safari at Balapitiya is the nearest big attraction.
